I have more than 17 years of occupational therapy experience working in various adult settings within the medical model including acute care, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient rehabilitation. I specialize in dementia care, treating adult neurological disorders including stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. I have undergone specialized training to become a Driver Rehab Specialist. Additional areas of expertise include seating and mobility assessments for an adult population, aging in place home assessments and modifications, and driving evaluations including assistance with driving retirement and driving training for clients needing modified driving controls.
Over the last 10 years, I have called Central Texas my home. I have worked extensively in the Temple/Belton and Fort Hood/Killeen areas. Through my experiences, I have seen an increasing need for accessible information and assistance for clients with mobility challenges. I was frustrated that many of my clients wanted to return to driving, but were unable to find a therapist or provider that could help them return fully to their prior level of independence.
This frustration led me to start Central Texas's first private practice that addresses the community's need for Comprehensive Driving Evaluations and training for clients that have experienced a medical or physical change that want to continue to driving. As I developed my practice, I believed it essential that I build a program that serves the client in their community. That is why I decided to have mobile business and that I would bring my clinic to my client's homes.
My goal is to support lifestyle changes, maintain independence with community mobility and help my clients achieve their best quality of life.
